Frequently asked questions
Everything people usually ask us about rooftop gardens, green roofs and our services. Cannot find your question? Call or message us and we will answer it directly.
01
Most reinforced concrete roofs can support a carefully planned, lightweight garden. We review slab condition, existing loads and the saturated weight of every bed during the survey. If there is any uncertainty, we recommend an assessment by a qualified structural engineer before any work.
Not when the garden is built properly. Soil never sits directly on the slab, drain outlets stay clear, and root barriers are used wherever plants grow in deep media.
We avoid penetrating the waterproofing. Trellises and pergolas are usually free-standing, ballasted or fixed to parapet walls after checking their condition.
We will point out any signs of leaks or cracks during the survey and recommend repair before installation. Building a garden over an existing leak only hides the problem.
02
Leafy greens, herbs, tomatoes, chilies, eggplant, okra, beans, gourds, cucumbers, ginger, turmeric and dwarf fruit trees in large containers all do well with good sun and the right soil depth.
Leafy greens and herbs are often ready to pick within three to five weeks of planting. Tomatoes, chilies and gourds usually take eight to twelve weeks.
We favour compost, organic feeds, companion planting and neem-based treatments. Any stronger product is discussed with you first.
Yes. We regularly rebuild tired or struggling gardens, reusing beds and containers where they are still sound.
03
Most gardens use drip irrigation on a timer connected to your roof tank or water line. Smaller balcony gardens can use self-watering planters or hand watering.
Free-draining soil and drainage layers let excess water escape quickly to the outlets. Before heavy-rain months we check outlets and raise containers where needed.
Drip irrigation and mulch reduce waste considerably. Water use depends on the size of the garden and the season, and we set timers accordingly.
04
Yes. The survey and your layout proposal carry no charge and no obligation.
A typical family vegetable garden is installed in two to five working days. Green roofs and larger projects are scheduled in stages.
No. Many clients look after their gardens themselves after handover. Care plans are there if you want help.
We agree a written quotation first. Payments are made in stages linked to the work, with details set out in our Terms and Conditions and Refund and Cancellation Policy.
